Beer Hall Putsch
   The Munich putsch was Adolf Hitler’s failed takeover of the Bavarian government on 9 November 1923. Hitler’s objective was to use the military forces of Bavaria and march to Berlin as a prelude to an overthrow of the Weimar Republic and the establishment of a dictatorial government. Hitler announced the revolution in the Burgerbraukeller in Munich, hence the term “beer hall putsch.” Hitler was subsequently arrested on April 1924 and sentenced to five years in prison with the possibility of parole after six months. It was during his incarceration in Landsberg prison that he wrote Mein Kampf.
