Wild Camps

Wild Camps
The term refers to the makeshift concentration camps the Nazis organized immediately after they came to power in 1933. The Nazis arrested political opponents, communists, Jews, and others they considered enemies of the Nazi Party. They were generally housed in abandoned warehouses, barracks, and an assortment of other temporary facilities, where those incarcerated were brutalized and denied any legal protection. The “wild” camps were subsequently replaced with the opening of Dachau in March 1933.
