Swastika

Swastika
An ancient Indo-European symbol of Hindu origin in the form of a twisted cross or sunwheel that was adopted by the Nazi Party as its logo in the 1920s. The swastika was an important symbol in the heathen religion of the pre-Christian Germanic people. The arms of the sunwheel in antiquity turned toward the left and represented the spiritual realm. The Nazi swastika turned to the right, symbolizing the material world. The logo was also used by the Thule Society, which helped to finance the Nazis in their early years.
