- National Committee For The Rescue From Nazi Terror
The British organization was founded in March 1943 for the purpose of devising strategies to rescue Europe’s Jews from the Nazi genocide. The chief organizers of the group were Eleanor Rathbone, a Unitarian and one of the first women in Parliament, and Victor Gollancz, a publisher and the author of an influential pamphlet, Let My People Go. The organization’s supporters included the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Moderators of the Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland, Harold Nicolson, and other influential leaders of both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities.
